US Open Tennis Jamaican star Dustin BrownSep 17, 2011
For years, he travelled to small tournaments across Europe in his van, eating and sleeping in it to cut down on his expenses as he tried to make it as a player. Here, at his first US Open, Brown on Friday has a second-round match against Andy Murray, a former finalist at Flushing Meadows who spoke over the summer of wanting to sell his blood-red Ferrari as "you could say that it's a poseur's car". He has felt uncomfortable drawing attention to himself when he stops at traffic lights or steps out of it in parking lots. There is no chance of Brown ever wanting to be permanently separated from his beloved VW, even though he has reached the full tour, and this summer made his first appearance at Wimbledon, where he lost in the first round. "There are so many memories and hard things I've been through with that camper, so I'm definitely keeping it," said Brown, who was born in Germany, and is still based there, in a small town outside Hannover. Brown has put in the hours, on court and behind the wheel, to get where he is today, to play Murray, though there is a chance that their match could be delayed by the arrival of Hurricane Earl on America's eastern seaboard. Here are a couple of things that Murray and Brown have in common. They do not have permanent coaches with them in New York, as Murray decided that he would be better off without Miles Maclagan, while Brown cannot afford one. And they have each relied on support from their mothers. Murray's mother, Judy, is here in ...
US Open 2011 Doubles final. We do not want cheaters in tennis!Jan 09, 2012
Please read the description below. J. Melzer/P. Petzschner vs M. Fyrstenberg/M. Matkowski during US Open 2011 final. At 1-0, 2:2, 30:30 for Melzer/Petzschner and Matkowski serving, Philipp Petzschner was hit by the ball. It bounced off his leg and back over the net for a winner. The point should be won by Poles, but the umpire didn't see the details. Petzschner was hit strongly. He perfectly knew that the point was won by Poles. But he cheated - in the final match of one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments in the world. The point gave a breakpoint for Melzer/Petzschner, which was crucial for the second set and for the match. It's a HUGE shame for you and your partner, Mr. Petzschner. Tennis was invented as a game of gentelmen. There is no place for cheaters like you here.

Scott Paschal Tennis: Enjoyed coaching this wonderful Venezuelan 19 year old professional tennis player who came to train with our Anastasia Kharchenko at our training facility in south Florida. The young lady pictured here reached the final of 2008 US OPEN junior tournament, was ranked as high as #10 in ITF world junior ranking, and is usually WTA ranked in the 200's. On court this morning we worked to improve her ability to attack short balls and come to the net to finish off points. A career baseliner...this hard working girl appreciated the workout and the new seeds planted which will add a new depth to her game! I had a blast, too. Hope you enjoy this short video i originally made to help the players analyze their strokes and footwork. I also look forward to you getting to know this girl and supporting her in the future.
